![]() They didn't develop it and they didn't publish it. They had zero control over the development of EB and the like. You brought up games like Earthblood to attack Paradox's quality control within their own house. Deifying anyone and declaring them immune to criticism is not mature. That's just fanboyism and I'm saying that as someone who loves Mitsoda's works. You don't know why he was fired but you've decided that he is sacrosanct. Why would anyone in the world buy a license where someone else can just come in an arbitrarily control or even end your game? That doesn't make sense and you really didn't put much thought into this. ![]() They can't micromanage how you use that license. lolĪnd then you double down by using fictitious statements to slam other people. Mitsoda never said he didn't know why he was let go. But hey, at least it can't be worse than CCP. But don't tell me they haven't mismanaged this. People don't just makes games about your IP without your green light. Guess what? They still own the rights to the White Wolf properties, so yes, it's still under their jurisdiction to license out that franchise. Third, sure, Paradox didn't publish those games. It is a betrayal to him, to his former co-workers, and to the consumers and fans who believed they were getting what was promised. It's not just about firing some programmer not meeting their deadline. You really think this is the best move as the publisher? Rik Schaffer himself said that Mitsoda was the soul of the project. ![]() Pretty sure it still says "Written by the creative mind behind the original Bloodlines" on the Steam store page for BL2. Who, by the way, is also the guy who was used as a hype machine for the fans of the first game. You can't seriously sit here and tell me that you believe, very honestly, that Paradox was doing what they thought was best, by firing the lead writer of BL2, who by and large made BL1 the game that it is, because we all know the story is one of the best parts. From the facts and known statements, it looks like that wasn't reflected properly. Yeah, I think it lacks trustworthiness when you let someone like that go. Second, I think it has to do with trusting an employer to do what's right, which is outright naïve by today's standards, but there you go. You can make up reasons if you want, but that's blind faith. If you looked into what Mitsoda has said about it, he's had no clue about being let go, and nobody gave him an inkling about not meeting deadlines. I will spend time explaining it to you anyways. It's why I disagreed with you in the first place. If that doesn't convince you, remember that being happy is always more fun than being sad. There are some reasons to remain optimistic. They've promised Paradox modding support for BL2. The tools they give to gamers are so versatile and open that you are almost only limited by your imagination. You can download a mod that completely transforms Crusader Kings 2 into Game of Thrones. They're also one of the most pro-modding studios and publishers in the entire industry. (Hence the story about Bloodlines 2 also almost being cancelled) If you can't make a great game for them, they would rather have no game. These guys are butchers when it comes meeting their standards. They were once publishing a game called Magna Mundi which was like 90% finished and then they completely cancelled the game because they thought the multiplayer wasn't fun. If they didn't care about the quality of the game, they could have just released it in a mess of a state, two years ago.Īs someone who plays all of their strategy games, they really do care about attention to detail. I see this a lot but if you really think about it, Paradox has been the most trustworthy actor throughout this entire disaster.
